The atmosphere became uncomfortable when President Yoweri Museveni abruptly ended Catherine Kusasira's speech. Kusasira, who was appointed as a presidential advisor on Kampala Affairs in 2019, was addressing attendees at one of the events organized as part of the Presidential tours in Masaka. President Museveni is currently engaged in an Investment and Wealth Creation tour in Greater Masaka, focusing on the theme of 'Securing your future through wealth creation and shared prosperity'.
During her speech, Kusasira expressed her frustration about not being able to meet the president despite her role as his advisor. In previous instances, Catherine Kusasira, who was formerly associated with the music group Eagles Production, has expressed her desire for President Museveni's assistance.
In a video excerpt from the Masaka event, Kusasira expressed her gratitude for the support received, but also voiced her personal distress as a presidential advisor unable to access the president.While Kusasira was still speaking, President Museveni interrupted and assured her that she would have the opportunity to meet him in June.
Museveni stated, "Okay, they'll bring you." As Kusasira attempted to continue speaking, Museveni intervened, saying, "They'll bring you around mid-June... Okay, Catherine. Okay."
The president wanted her to conclude her speech so that others could also address the audience. He mentioned that she was wealthy and humorously referred to her as "that rich girl" before telling her to let others speak.Catherine Kusasira recently disclosed her potential risk of losing her house located in Luwafu on Plot 7, Block 273 on Abbas Road, Makindye, Kampala, due to debts owed to loan sharks.
According to reports, Kusasira borrowed Shs100 million in 2017 but faced difficulties in servicing the loan during the Covid-19 lockdown. She was only able to reimburse Shs80 million, leaving a remaining balance.
