People were hoping to see Swangz Avenue's Veronika Luggya, also known as "Vinka," perform, while Azawi, whose real name is Priscilla Zawedde, gave a performance of a lifetime.
Vinka, the "Boss Manja," didn't show up at Azawi's concert of African music, and it's clear that a few things going on behind the scenes made sure of that. But it's not something as bad as "beef" or competition between the two women.
Vinka would probably be angry because, for the past two years, Swangz Avenue has made sure that Azawi releases hit after hit of music and gets great sponsorship deals while Vinka takes a back seat.
This help for Azawi made it almost certain that her first concert would go for the fences and be a home run for the singer.
But he was with two Swangz Avenue stars, Zafaran and Winnie Nwagi, and Vinka was noticeably missing last Friday. People assumed that she wasn't happy with the one-sided support Azawi has been getting because of this.
Vinka looked like a hater because she didn't perform at Azawi's "African Music Concert," even though the "Thank God" singer was and is still out of the country.
So, she didn't show up at the concert. In reality, she had more important things to do when she made a deal to perform at the "African Descent Summit" in Canada last weekend.
In fact, the women on Swangz Avenue are said to get along well with each other, so "beef" does not come up.
