Eddy Kenzo has spoken out about the birthday celebration he organized for his daughter, Maya Mirembe, which generated significant media attention.

The party was notably attended by Maya Mirembe’s mother, Rema Namakula, her current husband, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya, and their daughter, Amaal. Also in attendance was Kenzo’s fiancée and State Minister for Minerals, Fiona Nyamutoro. Photos of the two families uniting were warmly received online, with many praising the couples for demonstrating remarkable maturity.

Speaking publicly about the event for the first time, Kenzo explained that he invited the Ssebunyas because they are “part of the family.”

Leading by example

“It was a birthday, so we invited Maya's family, and when you invite family, everyone should be there,” Kenzo said. “Given the time Rema spent with Maya, and the fact that Maya is Amaal’s sister, it made sense for everyone to be present, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Kenzo emphasized that as a leader, he wanted to show that life isn’t always about conflict.

“It’s about humanity, and this is how life should be,” he said in an interview with Noordeen Ntege. “I believe this is the right example I should set.”

Maya Musuuza turned 13 on September 28th.
