On Saturday, June 1, a splendid ceremony blending Christian grandeur and local customs took place at Pastor Robert Kayanja's residence in Kawuku. The occasion marked the official introduction of his son, Robert Kayanja Jr, and his Latvian fiancée, Marlena Gailis. The event was attended by a select group of individuals, including members of the Rubaga Miracle Center, city business figures, senior pastors from various churches, as well as friends and family.
Marlena Gailis, originally from Latvia, crossed paths with Kayanja Jr during their time studying at a university in the United States. After getting engaged in November of the previous year, the couple celebrated their love and commitment during the ceremony.
During his address at the event, Pastor Robert Kayanja expressed his gratitude to God for blessing him with a son who would carry on his ministry and uphold the family's legacy. He remarked, "We are so grateful to God that he has blessed us with a wonderful son to continue this legacy. My father, Yokaana Walakira, was a reverend, and my grandfather, Yeremia Gyagenda, was also a great preacher who passed away while spreading the gospel alongside Apollo Kivebulaya."
Recounting their meeting, Gailis shared that she and Kayanja Jr initially connected while collaborating on a class project. During this project, she noticed that she prominently featured in most of the photographs he took as the school photographer.
"In that moment, I realized that you had found me, just like the Bible says that he who finds a good wife finds the favor of the Lord. I want to express my gratitude for finding me; it is the greatest honor I will ever experience in my entire life," Gailis expressed.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Gailis tearfully thanked Pastor Kayanja and the entire family for their warm welcome and unwavering support. Pastor Eron Mutebi of Entebbe Miracle Center referred to Kayanja Jr as their "Muhoozi" within the Miracle Center Movement, emphasizing his significant role as the first son.
"We are extremely delighted that he has chosen to serve in ministry; he could have stayed in the United States, but he is here, dedicating himself to serving God," Pastor Mutebi added.
Kayanja Jr currently serves as one of the pastors at his father's Rubaga Miracle Center church, solidifying his commitment to the ministry.
