Prominent human rights activist and politician Ingrid Turinawe joined many Ugandans on social media in applauding Phiona Nyamutoro after it was revealed that she hosted her fiancé’s ex-partner over the weekend and organized a birthday party for her stepdaughter.

"Look at what @PNyamutoro has done????????. You are truly an extraordinary woman," Ingrid Turinawe posted on X. "This is a powerful lesson for all stepmothers and stepfathers. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family. Happy Birthday to your firefighter, Maya."

Nyamutoro responded with a heartfelt gesture, sharing two love emojis.

On Sunday, September 29, the State Minister for Minerals hosted a birthday celebration for Maya, the 13-year-old daughter of singer Eddy Kenzo and Tracy Nabatanzi. The event emphasized unity, with Rema Namakula—Kenzo's former partner and mother to one of his children—attending alongside her husband, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya.

Before the party, Nyamutoro shared a touching birthday message for Maya, expressing the deep connection they've shared since 2020, when Maya was just 9 years old. Her heartfelt tribute highlighted her cherished role as Maya's stepmother.

She wrote: "It feels like just yesterday when you were a 9-year-old insisting we have matching hairstyles during the holidays, and now you're a teenager with your own style. I never thought I'd find such a kindred spirit in a child! I'm forever blessed and grateful to have you as my amazing big sister and first firefighter. May life be as graceful to you as you are. Happy birthday, my Mirembe."

Notably, while Eddy Kenzo and Dr. Hamza Ssebunya have appeared in public together before, it's rare for Kenzo and Rema to be seen together since their highly publicized breakup. This occasion also marks the first time both couples have shared public photos while spending time together.
