BigTril
BigTril (real name Rowland Raymond Kaiza) is a Ugandan rapper, songwriter, and producer best known for his viral hit song "Parte After Parte". He was born on January 13, 1990, and raised in Uganda by his single mother, Esther Nankinga. He is the fourth of five children and attended Turkish Light Academy for both his O-level and A-level education. He later joined Makerere University to study Journalism and Mass Communication but dropped out after a year to pursue music full-time.
BigTril began his music career in underground rap battles during his time at university. In 2011, he was signed to Baboon Forest Entertainment, a Ugandan hip-hop label founded by rapper GNL Zamba. Under this label, he released several songs including "Push Harder", "Pretty Girls", "Bad Gyal Ting", and "Giddem" featuring Beenie Gunter.
His breakthrough came in 2019 with the release of the self-produced single "Parte After Parte". The song was inspired by a viral clip and quickly became a massive anthem across Africa, gaining popularity in Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, and other countries. It went viral on social media and was endorsed by top African and international celebrities, including Wizkid, Davido, Cardi B, and Offset.
BigTril's unique sound blends English and Luganda, and he describes himself as a "vibes creator" rather than being confined to a single music genre. He is known for writing and producing most of his own songs, giving him full creative control over his work.
Following his success, BigTril moved to Nigeria for about two years under Striker Entertainment to gain more experience and insight into the larger African music industry. He credits Nigeria’s music ecosystem for teaching him about structure in areas like production, distribution, and branding.
Back in Uganda, he continues to release music and engage with fans. Recent songs include "My Guy" featuring Fik Fameica, "Chica Bonita", and "Deed". Beyond music, BigTril enjoys basketball, art, and has also worked as a radio host.
His name, BigTril, is an acronym that stands for "Born in Greatness To Rise into a Legend"—a reflection of his personal vision and artistic mission.
