?Artist's life story
Uganda's Fik Fameica broke into the African mainstream at the end of the 2010s with club hits like "Byenyenya" and "My Property" and the Patoranking collaboration "Omu Bwati." His music is a mix of rap, dancehall, and Afro-pop. Later, he started his own record label and kept putting out songs all the way through 2020.
Walukagga Shafik was born in Kampala, Uganda. As a rapper, he was known as Fresh Boy and, more often, as Fik Fameica. "Pistol," a club hit from 2015, was his first song, but "Byenyena" and a contract with Kama Ivien Management in 2017 put him on the national map. Fameica had a great year in 2018. He won three HiPipo Awards, including the Breakthrough Award and the Best in Hip-Hop. He also released several popular singles and three full-length albums, Kutama, Skonto, and My Journey. In 2019, he worked with artists like Patoranking, Rayvanny, Wembley Mo, and Natacha on a number of songs. Most of these songs were released on his own label, Fresh Gang Records. Fameica kept making a lot of music over the next year, with songs like "Muko" and "Tevunya," which was made with Sheebah.
