Esther and Ezekiel's family plays music. Julie Muteesasira, their mother, is a gospel singer in Uganda who has had hits like "Ekikunyumira," "Lwana Nabo," and "Nterekera." Ezekiel said in an interview on Kenya's Citizen TV that he got into music by watching his mother and trying to do what she did. Esther told the story of how her aunt found out she could sing and secretly recorded her singing around the house. The two are involved in charity work with their parents, and in an interview with New Vision after they won, they said they would build a home for homeless children. Esther and Ezekiel went on Canada's Got Talent season 2 after moving to Canada to live with their single mother. They got a standing ovation from the audience and judges and moved on to the next round.
