Zafaran
Swangz Avenue showed off a new artist on March 22. His name is Zafaran. In a similar event, Zafaran, whose real name is Josephine Nakyoonyi, is seen signing her contract with Swangz lawyers at their office in an industrial area.
No information about the contract has been made public, but it is thought to be a long-term recording contract.
Swangz keeps signing up artists they have never heard of before and making them famous. It's thought that Zafaran trained for months before signing the contract, and he was seen playing with other musicians in the very successful Tusker Malt Conver sessions.
She recently played with King Saha and Chameleone at a concert put on by Swangz Avenue.
Even though we don't know much about Zafaran yet, fans come to watch out for her bubbly sense of style, which she shows off as a backup vocalist on Tusker Malt Conver sessions by wearing color-blocking and a few well-tailored suits. During the reveal video, a part of what is thought to be her song plays as a teaser. Swangz Avenue hasn't said anything about when their music will come out or how long it will be before we can get a feel for them as an artist.
This means that Swangz is now directly in charge of four artists, all of whom are women. Last year, Winnie Nwagi renewed her contract with the label Vinka, which is based in the industrial area. Signed with Sony, but Swangz and the very successful AZAWI run the band.
In a recent interview, the label's director, Benon Mugumbya, said that Swangz plans to keep all of its artists and add a few more.
