?Ernest Nsimbi's life story, age, family, wife, and songs can be found on GNL Zamba.

GNL Zamba is a well-known and well-respected hip hop musician in Uganda.

People in Uganda say that it was Zamba who brought rap and Lugaflow music to mainstream radio and other media outlets. GNL Zamba does a lot of things besides music. He is an envoy for Ugandan brands and social projects, an actor, and a filmmaker.

How I grew up and went to school

Ernest Nsimbi, also known as GNL Zamba, was born in the Mukono district on January 22, 1986, to a technical electrical engineer and a civil servant. However, he usually celebrates his birthday on January 29 for some strange reason.

He was the only boy in a family of four children. His three sisters were all girls.

Zamba's parents don't agree on what day he was born, so they celebrate his birthday on January 29. The hospital records also show a different date.

His father insists that he was born on January 29, 1986, because there were things going on that day that he can't forget.

But Zamba's mother says he was born on January 22 because she was the one who gave birth to him. She says it was a Friday (the calendar says January 22 was a Wednesday, but his hospital records say it was January 25). So, this is why Zamba's birthday is celebrated for a whole week.

But his family lived in the Kawempe slum after the Ugandan civil war, when the country was still poor and unstable. Zamba became a storyteller who got ideas from the hard times he went through as a child.

He first got interested in music because his grandmother, who was a leader in a church choir, told him he should do it.

GNL Zamba went through a lot of changes in his education. For A' Level, he went to five different schools, and he was the head writer for the Kiira Mirror, a member of the debates club team, and the head of the junior literature club.

He went to Makerere University and got a bachelor's degree in Environmental Management there.

Career in music

GNL Zamba is a hip hop artist from Uganda who goes by the name Lugaflow. Luganda is an indigenous language from the central part of Uganda. It means "rap."

Since the 2000s, this kind of music has inspired a new generation of Ugandan rappers to make popular music in their own language.

Zamba writes his song lyrics in both Luganda and English so that he can please all of his fans. Shadrack Kuteesa of Platinum Entertainment ran HIP-HOP CANVAS, and GNL tried out for it in 2005 and 2008.

Zamba stood out in these multilingual projects because he told stories that were important to his audience in Luganda, and his lyrics were very focused on social issues in Uganda.

In 2005, Hip Hop Canvas was the first to record him. He was a part of the award-winning song "MotherAfrica."

In 2009, GNL Zamba put out his first mainstream album called Koyi Koyi. It was praised for combining traditional and modern sounds. He has also performed at festivals and conventions in Europe, Africa, and North America.

Yoweri Tibahuburwa Museveni, the president of Uganda, is said to have been inspired by GNL to put out his first single, "You Want Another Rap."

GNL Zamba was signed by Platinum Entertainment at first, but in 2008 he started his own company called Baboon Forest Entertainment. He opened a sports bar and bought land in Uganda with the money he made from music.

Family

Ernest Nsimbi, whose stage name is GNL Zamba, got married to American artist Miriam Tamar. The wedding was in the United States, and the party was in Malibu, California.

“L’ACHAIM!!!? Some of our friends still can't believe we got married, because they think we were making a music video. That would be such a big change in the story. This is the real deal, family! Here we are dancing to one of our favorite songs to prove it. #DancePartnerFirLife @miriam tamar #AffairsOfTheHeart #Nsimbi #wedding #Malibu #DancePartnerFirLife "Thanks @dakotafine for this one!," GNL Zamba wrote on his Instagram page.

Social campaigns

The Uganda Wild Life Authority and Oxfam's Friend A Gorilla campaign, which was about teaching people about the environment, had GNL Zamba take part.

The Uganda Ministry of Health chose his song "Story ya Luka" to be the main focus of an AIDS education campaign for young people in 2010.

Young Empowered And Healthy (YEAH) Uganda made a video called "True Manhood" that encouraged Ugandan youth to use condoms. The video also won the People's Choice Digital Media Award at the 2011 International Entertainment Education Conference.

GNL Zamba and Buzz Teeniez worked together for three years as they went to schools in Uganda to mentor young people, encourage them to work together, and stay in school.

In 2014, he won an award from the Twaweza initiative for the good social impact of his song "We Cry," which talks about street violence and safe s#x.

Since 2013, GNL Zamba has worked with Reach A Hand Foundation Uganda on a number of campaigns for young people that combine education and entertainment. He was once asked to talk about oral literature and ethnology at the College of Humanities at Makerere University.

He chose Baboon Forest because...

He says that he got the idea for Baboon Forest from how much he liked monkeys, especially big ones like apes and Rafiki. Rafiki is a character from the movie The Lion King, and monkeys are a part of our folklore because of him.

He says that there is a folk tale that says monkeys always help people become kings. Because of this, he calls himself the kingmaker and says that in Uganda's hip hop, he made a model that anyone can use to become great.

How did he come up with the name GNL Zamba?

Before he changed his name to GNL Zamba, he used to call himself Zeus Theodore when he first started making music.

Greatness of No Limit is what GNL stands for, and Zamba is his real botanical name.
